Ok, my computer is being really stupid, I've run countless virus scans with at least two virus scanners and apparently my compter is completely virus and spyware free. I cannot upgrade to AOL 9 and I think it's because something (or maybe someone) is telling my pc to do something else because when its starting up, the MS DOS prompt window comes up really quickly but once it was a bit slow and i managed to read that it was deleting something. All this happens before the computer actually loads up and I know something is going on because I've never seen the MS DOS window in start up!

    Anyone know what this is?

I'm on windows me. Actually, the initial, worse problems stopped after I ran a sasser fix which said that my computer didn't have any viruses including sasser. Everything is telling me my computer is fine when it's not lol.

Goto Run...Start and type in msconfig, go to the startup panel and see what is running on system startup, for a dos box to appear you should have some .bat file running. (Post a screenshot of this tab if you can)

    P.S. I hate AOL

Hmmm, are you very techy? You could click Start->Run, type msconfig and press enter, then go to the Startup tab and see if there's anything there that you don't recognise. Maybe a .bat file which is an MS-DOS script?

Edit: valen, you had to beat me to it! lol.
