    Hi all,
hope you guys/girls have had a great holiday and to all previous year 11's congrats!
I'm going into year 11 and obviously i'm scared.
I'm basically a c student however i was forced to take triple science and the majority of the time I get D's. I struggle to concentrate while reading plus i need to learn b6,p6 and c6 plus coursework. Is there any useful resources i could use.

Hi, Kavin. Don't panic about Y11, you still have some time to improve these results and get the grades you want. I currently run a Year 11 thread which can be found here http://www.thestudentroom.co.uk/show....php?t=4261768 and also expect a PM from me.

    Hey!
YOU WILL BE FINE.Don't b scared of the As for making revision stick, make a timetable and revise 1 subject for about 30 minutes and then take a short break. Then revise a different subject for another 30 minutes and just keep doing process. I'll help your brain stay more active.Writing notes of your notes of your notes should help make revision stick. Then you should re-write those notes but you should make them shorter. just keep doing this until you've nailed it, you can also make flash cards and stick it around your house.

http://www.thestudentroom.co.uk/show....php?t=1617380 This is a link to a thread, just on making revision stick.

As for learning the b3 ,p3 etc., have you got a revising guide or text book? if you don't, i recommend getting one because they are great for revision and some of them have sections where they discuss about how you should do your coursework. And if you do subjects like Art and design and tech, go to after school clubs, so you can finish them off earlier. It'll help you just focus on revision.

I highly recommend exercising a lot, because it helps with stress and boosts your confidence. Also, socialise! some people might say that you should neglect your social life but I stopped when GCSEs are about 3 months away XD. Hanging out with your friends will help a lot. And remember, your teachers are there to help! Abuse their generosity .

I know it sounds tedious but should just have to do it i'm afraid. Sometimes, you' ll want to give up, but just imagine your results sheet with all the grades you wanted. Trust me, it is the best feeling ever . Again, I know exactly how you feel because, i came into the course in year 11 because i moved from Scotland XD. But i still passed and got the grades i need! you just have to do it!
btw, what grades are you hoping to get? if you post your exam board, the people here will help you to find a good revision guide. Ask your teachers for recommendations as well !
Hope this helps and sorry for the long post .

Thanks so much for your help I cannot thank you guys enough. Yeah I do have a revision book for my sciences and is a lot more straightforward and direct compared to the textbooks.
I'm gonna stick to your revision stratergies. im currently expecting Cs for all my sciences, B for computing, level 5 for maths and English and Cs for the rest which is business studies and geography. However I followed everything for coursework in physics but I only had a C which is a huge shame.
I've been doing about 4hrs a week over my holidays with a tutor.

If you don't like reading, maybe you should try to watching videos on YouTube about the topics. When I did my Science GCSE revision, I mostly used videos to help me get a better understanding and I also used BBC bitesize as they had a lot of information. If you are struggling, I really suggest going to your subject teachers for help because I didn't do that I didn't get as good as I would've hoped to have gotten. I went to my subject teachers a little bit late and I regretted not going to extra revision classes that they held after school. Although my biology teacher wasn't the best teacher, he kept starting the lessons late lol. He was also supposed to teach us physics but he didn't therefore I struggled mainly on physics due to the rushed lessons on it before the exams.

Here are some links that might help you

I really suggest to start revising early and trying some practice papers as well. Don't stress too much

Great! Want to work together? I did my mocks and I got an A for Chemistry and a B for biology (Hated the exam). I got a B for physics. My chemistry teacher is SO BAD.

Also, readings not such a good way of revising. I found out that 75% of the information you read is forgotten. I really recommend flashcards and try some past papers.
