If you only want to resit a couple, do them next June with your ASs. If you want to resit most of them, you'll have to find a college/school that offers the resitting of a year of them.

i heard that it was possible to re-do them in like, novemeber or something strange... really don't know if that is true or not though...

Very few people bother, except for English and Maths, but it should certainly be possible if you want to.

Can you retake the year?
The only reasons you should resit are a) because you didn't get the 5 Cs needed to do an advanced course or b) you didn't get a C in English and/or maths. If it's the former, you might be able to do an equivalent one year course such as a GNVQ Intermediate instead before progressing to the advanced course. My sixth form offered that option anyway. If it's the latter, you'll usually still be allowed into sixth form to do an advanced course, but you'll have to resit English and/or maths as well, so if you do AS levels, you might only be allowed to do 3 instead of 4.
I think they only offer GCSEs in June, and not January like A levels.

Kellywood I Just Wanted To Ask Why Are These The Only To Reasons (i.e. do most universities disregard re-takes of GCSE's???)

and Milton Keynes Your Wrong, with Some Boards You Can Re-Sit in November (but like i said that is board dependent)

I believe some colleges will keep you on for an extra year, so that you can dedicate your time to GCSE retakes, which enables you to do the advanced courses in the 2 years afterwards. Although this usually isn't taken up on, people become really demotivated when they can't seem to see any visible progress, with most just dropping out.

How many are we talking here?

Mostly you’ll only need to re-sit either Maths or English, or in some cases both. Generally speaking for this you’ll have extra classes to cover the necessary of the GCSEs and then sit them in the June with your other AS-Levels.

In the exceptional case when you fail them still in Year 12, normally you can re-sit them again in Year 13 with your A2s.

You don't deserve to do A2 if you can't get a C in both maths and english by then.

True. If you haven't passed Maths and English GCSE by then, you have no hope for A-levels.

Because generally the only GCSEs that almost all unis (and employers) will ask for at grade C or above are English and maths, although there are a few exceptions, and A-levels are much more important. Unis do look at GCSEs, but it will be obvious from the dates if you resat lots of them and that wouldn't look as impressive as someone else who got those grades the first time, so it's best to just concentrate on doing as well as possible at A-level.

You can resit English amd Mathematics in November. This has some advantages e.g. allowing you to revise whilst the material is still quite fresh in your mind and you would have finished it before January AS modules, but some people may benefit from the additional preparation time offered by a June sitting. If you resit in November, you could retake again in June, if this is required though. Not all schools do November entry, so you will need to check though.

Good Luck

This isnt true...some people may be good at different subjects i.e. Art, Business Studies, ICT; and so on!

Some people find GCSE maths really hard, but they could still take A Levels, as they could get brilliant grades!
