Hi guys, I recently got my GCSE results, and have been hoping to do Medicine. I only got 8A*s and 2As, and have been aiming for 10 A* the whole time. The subjects I got As in were DT: Resistant Materials and History. DT was 8 ums off of an A*(approx 4 marks) and history was 12 ums off of an A*(approx 6 marks), do you think I should go for the remarks? Money isn't a problem im just scared of them going down. Many thanks in advance

If I'm honest it's unlikely that they'll go up by that many marks due to the new changes to remarks, however for DT you haven't really got anything to lose, it's unlikely you'll go down to a B so you may as well! For History it depends on the marks between the grade boundaries, because being 6 marks away from the A* may be a bit dangerous to remark if the marks between A and B is less than 10 marks, as you could go down a grade.

But you should be very happy with the results you got, 8A* and 2As, you should have no problems going into medicine if you do that well in your A-levels also! Good luck!

Thank you very much for the reply, I appreciate the advice and will certainly get DT remarked. History is 12 ums to go up and 12 ums to go down so it's basically a middle A, not sure how likely that would be to go up. Thank you so much for the kind words, I know I should be happy with these grades but both my cousins got 11A* and my parents always compare me it's really irritating! Thanks once again for the reply

Is it worth it to remark (or even possible to) a controlled assessment?- I was only 2 UMS ( which I think is 1 mark) away from a B which could've given me an overall B in bio meaning I could've met my predicted grade
