On results day, I got my GCSE English Literature result which was a grade A, at 163 UMS i.e. I scraped an A.

I'm not at all saying the an A is a bad grade, but the reason that I am considering a remark is that I had been predicted a solid A* for the majority of year 10 and all of year 11 and to scrape an A was a bit of a shock.

    My breakdown was:
    Unit 1: 65/80 UMS (47/68 raw marks) - A
    Unit 2: 49/70 UMS (25/54 raw marks) - B
    Unit 3: 49/50 UMS (38/40 raw marks) - A*

The unit 1 is being remarked for the whole higher tier due to suspicions from the teachers, but the unit 2 is primarily troubling me.

In my unit 2 mock, I got mid 40s for raw marks (A*), and to have dropped to the lowest mark for a B, even in a lesson as subjective as English, seems odd to me.

My main question is if I should get it remarked, or even if I could, as I know there are new rules for remarking. Thanks in advance

By all means get it remarked if you have the money. you get peace of mind. They will only change if theres a genuine error and not just a difference of opinion, which makes it much harder due to this rule change. The marks you are awarded are based on the exam you took, not your mocks or predictions.

Sorry to ask another question, but how would I go about getting the unit remarked? Thanks very much

Same thing has happened to me - I was getting 1-2 marks off full marks all through year 11, yet I just scraped an A in my exam? I'm so disappointed! Are you with AQA too?

Maybe something happened in the marking... (and yes I am doing AQA too)

I'd say go for the remark, it will play on your mind if you don't! There may have been an error in marking for your grade to be so out of the ordinary.
