    Is constant lying an illness,

For example for years I have lied to my friends
And even some people who weren't
    I made up small fibs
Then turned to big lies about my life

To stop lying I had to take out the people I lied to out my life and blank them
If I didn't I'd still feel the urge to lie and fabricate stories

You're a compulsive liar. I think every time you feel the urge to tell even a small lie stop yourself

So what can I do about it?
That's why I've distanced myself from people because i can't stop myself
It's not even small lies I tell
    It's big things

Try to find out why you lie. Do you do it to impress people? Are you scared that they wouldn't be friends with you otherwise? Find the root cause of your compulsive lying and then you can start finding ways to stop, e.g. it may be due to low self esteem so that would be what you need to fix.

I've been wondering why it is
Because it's not as if I lie to hold on to people.
I just did it, I guess to try and make people feel sorry for me, maybe take care of me or be nicer or more interested
Then my lies just got too much
    Now I've lost a lot
