I'm thinking for my second year of uni I'd like to join either the UOTC or the Naval Corps. I'm torn between the two but basically these are the points I have thought about why I want to join UOTC:

-----The UOTC training barracks is right next to my flat
-----I would like to be able to visit the Defence Animal Centre at some point
-----I did a week's residential with the army while at school and won an award for best female in fitness

However, I am a qualified pool lifeguard and training as a beach lifeguard next year so Im thinking the Naval Corps would be more interested in me? Would I ever get the opportunity to visit the Army Veterinary Corps base?

p.s. I am also badly short-sighted, wear glasses all the time so maybe this will rule them both out

You can arrange a visit to the Army Veterinary Centre at Melton Mowbray (?) without being a member of either organisation (and I presume by Naval Training Corps you mean URNU). Either write to them and arrange it yourself, or go to an AFCO and explain that you are interested in becoming a military vet and would like to visit. It might take a while to sort out, as it's a single, specialist unit that probably doesn't have much capacity to take visits at any time, I dare say it has set days of the year for example, but it should be possible, especially if you are on a Vet Med course. You can check on the eyesight limits with the AFCO at the same time.
