I'm about to start my A2 year studying Maths, Geography and Technology & Design. I would love to teach primary school as a career. Coming from NI my QTS option to do a Primary degree is Stranmillis - which is highly competitive - and i need to have other options. If I choose to go down the route of a PGCE @ Queen's/Ulster I have no idea what undergrad to do or what are options for me (keeping in mind the PGCE). Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated!

I imagine doing maths and then a pgce would make you a desirable candidate.

If you do the pgce route then an undergraduate degree in most subjects can lend itself to a primary teaching pgce. The obvious choices could be English/Maths/Science/Arts/Social sciences/Humanities but ultimately it's not prescriptive. Think about what you're good at and what you enjoy and what field of career may be of interest to you if you want to do something other than primary teaching.
