A friend of mine (who hopes to study the German language at uni) and myself wish to travel to Germany around Christmas time next year. I don't know if this will be a problem or not as we were hoping to leave on the 4th of December and return on the 22nd of December. If someone could offer advice or reassurance that would be appreciated, thanks.

Why would it be a problem? What are you looking for reassurance over?

Are you trying to say your worried that you might be away for some of the university term time? If that is the case then yes, you likely will be, most universities (baring Oxbridge) don't finish for Christmas until a week or two later than the 4th.

I would not recommend booking anything until you get your uni timetable and find out your term dates.

Chances are you'll still be at university until around mid December or later. You also probably don't want to miss the last week of term. Most universities hand out assignments or have important (sometimes graded) labs and workshops around that time. You may even have assessments. I had an assessment mid December in my first year of university.
