A light elastic string of natural length 5m, hangs vertically with its upper end fixed at a point A and a body of mass 4kg attached to its lower end. IN equilibrium the body rests at a point O where AO = 6.25 m. The body is then pulled down a further distance of 2.5 m to a point C and released from rest. Show that the period of ensuing motion is

\frac{5}{21} (2 \pi + 3sqrt3 )

First look at what you are missing, your modulus of elasticity. Use the information you are given about the object in its equilibrium state to work out an expression for it.
