Ihonestly, we don't really care about our different religions and traditions
religions and traditions are fine

but they do not, by far, exhaust or prejudice in any way our common humanity

It was my Palestinian Muslim besty who taught me that 'in the end of the day we believe in the same God'
or in a quite different God, or in many Gods, or in no God at all. Doesn't change the equation.

So drop all those crap about being friends or not with Non-Muslims
I agree, but when you have a clear order by Allah himself in his literal message to all of humanity (Quran 5:51) not to take Christians or Jews as friends (they are just friends to one another) it is not so easy to ignore it : you have to resort to some fancy interpretative footwork ....

in my view, this is simply one of many of Allah's blunders included in his "last" revelation : however, take heart. Most likely, we will receive Quran 2.0 anytime soon, and everything will be just fine

Or should I only be friends with other Muslims?

You can be friends with whoever you want.
I think that permissible for a Muslim to have non-Muslim friends for keeping humanity relationship.
