Short skirt + heels - how to make it not slutty?

Need some advice...

I've got about 8 mini skirts in my wardrobe which I love, and which I used to wear back when I was a Fresher (just graduated) on nights out. Problem is, whenever I try them on now with heels (varying colour peep-toes usually), they tend to look incredibly slutty and not very classy (don't think I used to care!).

My legs are prob my best bit, so I'd rather wear a short skirt and heels, and cover up up-top, but whatever I put on top doesn't seem to detract from the high heels + lots of leg on display!

Any suggestions / pictures?? Ideally I want to be able to wear such an outfit if I'm not sure if I'll end up in a bar / nice pub or a club - at the moment the thought of going into a bar in a mini skirt and heels just screams 'slut'!

i think it largely depends on the style of skirt and shoes...like a short leather skirt with some hideous bright pink shoes might look a bit...less than elegant. also, make sure you don't follow the no-knickers parade and i think you're sorted :biggrin:

i bet it looks fine on you - just don't worry about it! if you've got it flaunt it and all that. eff anyone else who has a problem.

I'm sure you look fine. How about trying it with wedges? They may distract from the "sluttyness".

Wearing opaque or darker tights are a good way of making it classier, obviously this only works with closed-toed shoes but it's a favourite combination of mine! Less cold that way too x

You could try something like this:

So a high neck jumper in white/black/dark colour and maybe a belt

leggings or tights

:O! We don't want to increase the chance of you getting raped lol!

Nahh, just kidding, i think you probably look fine and you just think that it makes you look slutty when it doesn't :wink:

I don't think any sensible person will accuse you of being slutty for wearing a short skirt - in the 60s they were a lot shorter. It's fashion, and as long as it isn't accompanied by horrendously overdone makeup and huge amounts of cleavage, it can look quite classy.

:dito: Maybe if you somehow manage to find some picture on the net of someone similarly dressed, then we can see if it does look 'slutty', but i doubt it does.

Thanks for all your suggestions & comments.
I've taken some pics of me wearing one of the skirts, with just a basic black Gap t-shirt and some heels - deep purple ones and then silver sequinned ones (which I know possibly aren't the classiest but they can look really good!).
Apologies for the pic quality - had to do it without the flash, & I'm moving house tomorrow, so mirror is on the floor!
Thoughts?

Fab, thanks guys & girls! It's all a very good illusion - I'm only just 5ft 4, but the combination of peep-toes and a short skirt do seem to make my legs look longer. Being 22 now I desperately want to avoid looking like a slaggy teenager, but I think you've convinced me I can get away with something like the pics :smile:
