After receiving my GCSE results, I was extremely disappointed; 5 of my grades were literally a couple marks from being A* grades... So now I'm faced with a dilemma. I can get the exam papers remarked, which would cost a total of £305.60, money which my family does not have. The school only pays for papers which are only ONE mark from a grade boundary. I have considered the other approach too; remarking a paper from each subject at a time to see if this changes my grade, and if not, send the other paper off for remarking too (this would cost less money, but would take way longer, which is bad, since the deadlines for remarks is the 15th). And I know what you might say- try harder next time; I didn't perform well because my family has financial problems, thus causing arguments between my parents, and so putting pressure onto me. I couldve got straight A*'s, but i just didn't. What do I do? I seriously feel hopeless.
EDIT: Also, I know that you get money back if your grade changes- thats awesome, but my family cannot just dedicate £300 out of the blue for my exams

GCSEs mean little long term, 5As is really good. So I would only get those ones you really care about remarked.

The difference between A and A* can be a matter of a single mark. Colleges and universities are well aware of this. If your family do not have the money for re-marks, which in the end might be a complete waste, perhaps try to be happy with the As. I know it can be disappointing to come so close but at the end of the day 5 As is brilliant.
