I graduated last year in Accounting and Finance with a 2:1. Since then, I have been struggling to find work in the field. I plan on completing the ACCA as I already have exemptions for the foundation papers.
I have recently read about the Janet and Richard Accounting course. It is a program where you pay £100 and they give you a login for their website where you can train on all aspects of SAGE 50. You can do this at your own pace.
Once you're trained, you let them know about this and they send work to your home from their clients (accounts prep, VAT returns, management accounts etc).
You then complete the work and send it off to them. They say that they even sign off one year on your ACCA experience (more if you do it for more than one year) and provide a reference if you find a new job.
Has anybody heard of this course before or know anyone who has done it? I would like decide whether or not I should give it a go. I have already asked a few people and they say it sounds like a scam. I would like more opinions on this.

Hi mate. I joined janet and richard accounting firm on 04/10/16 so not long ago. Yes it's an existing firm that will first train you then send you other companies accounts to deal with. Both done online. was like you struggling to find a job after my graduation, but is a good way to landing experience.so far so good for me.
Hope this has helped in easing some of the worries

Please I think it's a scam. I tried to contact them so many times when I enrolled with them, firstly they don't answer the phone then when you try to contact them they send you tidbits of work as if you r a dog.so far they have sent only twice some practise work.(I enrolled in Jan 31 , 2017 but started in April 2017 as I was doing many other courses)

Hello, This isn't particularly about the accounting course that this provider provides it's about the law - paralegal course.I am just wanting to know whether it is indeed a scam as I have rang and left several voicemails and tried to email them but the site keeps rejecting my email address by saying it's not valid. Basically I just want more information on how the course works and to check it's legit before committing and paying. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated Thanks
Hi, I worked with someone who did accounting and couldn't find work in that field and she did the accounting course with this company and strongly recommended them to me. She has now secured a job in the field. I am a law graduate (MA) and can't find work in the legal field. I therefore tried this company and they sent me two cases and gave me enough time to complete and send them. They then assessed them and sent me feedback and told me to start applying for jobs straight away and they will act as a referee. I haven't done so yet as I have to update my CV, so I don't know if it will enable me to secure a job in the legal field. Anyway, I thought they will give me more work to gain experience, but they didn't. I too tried contacting them for some time through voice mails and their site kept rejecting my email address. But they eventually got back to me and I have done their work experience course, though for the money I paid I don't think just two cases are enough, but if it will secure me a job that will be ok. Hope this helps.Last edited by mscj; 3 days ago at 15:17.
