Hello, I've applied for for SFE as an independent student so my parents income isn't taken into account. My university offers bursary for those with low household income. I believe this means that it has to be means tested. Does getting independent status mean that the application isn't means tested? (i've applied for the maximum loan) and what would be my household income as an independent student that my university needs? Will it just be my income or does it have to include parents income even though they aren't supporting me?

    Hi,

If you are being assessed as an independent student then we would means test the application. the guidelines for the bursary are that the application must be means tested. However as it is the university who assess for the bursary this is something you would have to check with them if you are eligible or not.

    Thanks
