Of course you can... I was using it when I was about 14

I've had eBay and Paypal since...I was about 13, maybe even 12. I'm pretty sure you need access to a credit card to open an eBay account though? At least, you did back then. I just use my dads for everything.

Official rules say you must be over 18 but no one really cares if you make your DOB up when signing up.

There was a thread on this a while ago.

Just lie.

edit: Which Paypal account did you open? 'Personal' or 'Premier' as I can't see any immediate difference?

Get a Personal account and then upgrade when/if you need to. With personal there are limits as to how much money you can send/receive/withdraw each month (and I think there's an overall limit regardless of time).

With Premier there are no limits but you have to pay fees on money you receive.

Ebay and Paypal are an absolute rip-off if you're a merchant.

Sadly they've cornered the market.

If I ever buy with paypal, I always add an extra few pence to subsidise the poor chap.

I've had a Paypal account for as long as I can remember... and whilst that isn't very far, that's not quite the point. :P

Basically, I've been buying and selling since I was a teen.

They've changed the security on ebay so you get suspended automatically as soon as you list something. They then ask you to fax/post in proof of address, age and goods. I registered last night, banned within 20 mins. Unbanned now though as have a fax machine :P

Just sellers. Here's the email I got:

Dear james.stanmoor ([email protected]),

We regret to inform you that your eBay account has been suspended.

To have your account reviewed for reinstatement, please follow the instructions at the bottom of this email.

Why have we suspended your account?

From experience we know that certain items and actions are more associated with fraudulent activity on eBay than others. As a precaution, we suspend an account if it gives us cause for concern. We then ask for more information from the member before we reinstate the account.

Please understand we're not accusing you of fraudulent behaviour. Our top priority is to ensure that eBay remains a safe and reputable place to buy and sell, so we'd just like to confirm some of the information you've given us.

Then loads of other crap of how to get reinstated. I only listed a £30 phone, and my friend got suspended from listing some clothes.

Guilty until proven innocent eh?

Well, they are an American company. So that explains it.

Hiya, you didn’t get any money taken or anything did you? Just your account suspended? Because that’s all I’m worried about!
