I haven't actually watched this before (iirc), but I glimpsed a bit of an episode of it and it looks fairly decent (I like cooking programmes like this anyway), so going to start properly watching it now...!

cool, its essentially a knockout style cooking show with top chefs from around GB. until the last few years, originally, it was 2 chefs vs each other to represent each region in a overall knockout stage, with the winner from that having their starter, fish dish, main course or dessert presented at a random banquet. back then, the general public could vote as well as pro judges. the last few years, it has been changed somewhat in the sense that a) it is 3 chefs per region fighting monday to thursday and their judged by a former winner / contestant of the competition. the friday, the 2 remaining chefs cook for judges and the winner goes to the national knockout stage.

in the national knockout stage, the chefs are awarded points via the judges but also the other chefs score each others dishes. last year, some hipster had his starter and dessert at the banquet, the fish dish was done by a yorkshire chef who was riddiculously creative (see his emancipation fish and chips...it was epic) and the main course was a male goat curry (which Id love to try making at home with proper chillies)
