Im in the middle of choosing my modules for the first and second term of my undergrad degree, and aside from the compulsory modules I can see both optional and elective modules that I can choose from. I was wondering what the advantages/disadvantages were of taking them, and if I even have to - even though some of them are 'optionals'!

I'm not sure why they have two different names (possibly some are from your course and some are off others?) but you usually have to take 120 credits a year, if you have 40 compulsory credits you will need to choose from the other modules to fill up your timetable
