I always go for CGP, i find the layout of the notes really helps and the cheesy humour makes me laugh :p:
Letts really for biology i wouldnt recommend the detail is minimal to say the least! I find cgp for biology a lot better plus they do board specific so u dont get stuff you dont need to know. Letts are pretty good for chemistry but the best I find is phillip allan update books the little modular guides. Hope this helps

The Philip Allan series was really good for my subjects. The Unit Guides contain exemplar answers and examiner commentaries, which give you an insight into how the examiner thinks and what you need to do in the exams to get the top marks. I think they are available for most subjects  . Here's the link to the website: http://www.philipallan.co.uk/content.aspx?page=HOME.

Same !! Love the crap jokes, especially those next to the barcode!

Used CGP since SATs. Good for Bio as they do one for just the Edexcel course :p: But like all revision guides they can't include everything, stuff is bound to be missed out. So make sure you have your own notes

Waterstones usually include revision guides on the 3 for 2 offer, just in case you're thinking of buying them somewhere other than online!

The Collins guides for Biology was excellent, and if you do AQA or Edexcel they are exam-board specific so are very convenient. "Advanced Biology for You" textbook is also rather helpful, albeit a bit long-winded if you solely want revision guides.

For chemistry I used Philip Allan's textbook, "AS Edexcel Chemistry" for primary revision.

Letts are usually pretty good - though you obviously have a lot of stuff in them which isn't relevant to your exam board.

It will depend on your subject, but I have found the exam board specific modular books extremely helpful.

I buy both, sometimes 2 explanations help me understand more. Plus, between the two, different angles would be covered and different details. Can't go wrong.

But yeah - I swear by Letts & CGP

Honestly, you’d be doing yourself a great favour if you stayed clear of Revision Guides for A-Levels, especially for the subjects you’re intending to take. A-Levels aren’t like GCSEs, and are much more in-depth. They require a lot more than good memories and what have you.

If you really want to do well at A-Levels, then the best you can do is get some very good textbooks, learn from them, and do plenty of past papers. In the end you’ll find yourself skimming over your textbooks for revision purpose more than your Revision Guides.

I don't use revision guides that often, but when I do I use Letts.

I thought that lonsdale were amazing Revision guides for GCSE, does anyone know any similiar style ones for A level?
totally agree - CGP are the best revision guides. I had one last year for AS Biology and it really helped (got a B in the end :-)).

You may be lucky in purchasing the revision guides with the college as they buy them in bulk and so you get it about half the retail price.

I really like the "Oxford Revision Guides" ...the revision through diagrams ones
CGP (for the cheesy jokes) and Oxford Revision Through Diagrams (for pictures, yay!)
Oxford Revision Through Diagrams I used a lot for psychology practical work folder and long answer questions. Because they give a general subject (for example participant observation) and then give the advantages/disadvantages and what have you, which you can then learn and then just apply to the individual case study
