I'm currently looking at which medical schools to apply for and I'm struggling. At the moment I'm looking at applying to Sheffield, St Georges, HYMS, Imperial (if I sit the BMAT), Leeds (again, if I sit the BMAT) and Aberdeen. I know I still have to narrow it down but I'd like to make sure I have a good chance at all the medical schools I'll apply to.

    GCSEs: 4A*, 5A, 2B
AS Level: AAAB (chemistry, biology, physics and maths)
A2 Predictions: A*AA (biology, chemistry and maths)
UKCAT: 2000 (667 average and SJT Band 2)

Will I stand a good chance if I were to apply to these medical schools? I've looked at admissions policies etc but thought I'd get a second opinion. Also, Edinburgh used to be my first choice but I've heard they're very GCSE heavy and so I might not have a very strong application there?

If there are any other medical schools that I will potentially have a strong application for then please let me know!

    Any help is really appreciated!

    Thanks

    Good morning,

Check out this thread here: http://www.thestudentroom.co.uk/show....php?t=4292328

It's got people chatting about which universities are GCSE heavy, and which aren't

    Good luck!

I'm not sure about the others, but Edinburgh might be a bit too risky, yeah the applications are scored and you usually need something like 38/40 to get an offer, and your UKCAT and GCSEs alone would probably tip you below that line. Then again, if you'd really really love to study at Edinburgh, it might be worth a try. Good luck, whatever you decide to do!

HYMS and St Georges are solid options not sure if your stats are a little low for Sheffield? Just saying this because I chose not to apply there with a higher UKCAT and more A*'s - however, it depends if you want to take the risk x
