So I applied for student finance last year and everything was okay, but I left my course around November/ December. I now want to go back to Uni. I've recently applied again and it wasn't working for me online, therefore, I rang up and they told me to fill out a form and post it instead. I've now logged onto student finance online and it says that the status of my application is that I'm not eligible for Student finance. Why is this?

If you received a loan for the first year but failed to inform Student Finance or your university that you withdrew from the course early, you may have received an overpayment - this would result in your account being in arrears. Whenever a student leaves a course without finishing, any payments they received previous must be paid back before they are entitled to apply for a new loan. However, as most people won't be able to pay this debt back immediately, you could set up an instalment plan and pay whatever you can afford over a monthly basis. This would also enable you to apply for a new loan with Student Finance. As long as you are making increment payments towards your arrears every month you should be able to apply again. Contact the Student Loan Company directly and arrange to set up a payment plan.

    Best of luck.
Do you agree with the PM's proposal to cut tuition fees for some courses?
