My friend left some stuff over at my flat over the summer as he lives abroad. He failed his exam but is appealing as he has good grounds to do so, but the results are coming on the 6th (unusually late). Additionally, his student loan co-signor had to withdraw meaning that the loan got cancelled and that he couldn't get back to the UK in time.
However, the contract for the flat ends today and my parents are moving my stuff a bit less than 2 hours away, and I don't think they'll be very happy with driving another 2 hours when they need to drive 4+ hours to get to my flat in the first place and 2 to move my stuff as they wont all fit in my car.
Both of us are panicked and not sure what to do. I don't think I can pay for an urgent delivery as it'll be incredibly expensive and if I put them in local storage, he wouldn't have his stuff in time if his appeal succeeds and he begins the year.
Any advice on what to do would be appreciated!

How much stuff is it?
Crates, a few boxes etc?...
Have you thought about asking a mate if he can hold onto them, if only for a few days?
Given its the 2nd today and the 6th is only 4 days away?

I think it's like 3-4 large boxes, 5-6 small boxes and a few bags.
Yeah I think either getting a friend to hold it or putting it in local storage is the way to go. It's worse for him if his appeal succeeds (ironically) but not sure what else I can do.

to be honest this isn't your responsibility... I don't think you need to put yourself out significantly to deal with it... obviously it would be a huge help to your friend to do SOMETHING but I think it's reasonable to do whatever works best for you (whether that's last minute shipping which would be possible, your parents transporting it - perhaps he could pay them a bit, or putting it in storage)
