    Hello,

I will be sitting AS maths, outside the school, and thus not as an AS subject within my school and therefore I was asking if there was any way in which I could self-teach myself the Edexcel AS maths work/specification this year? A lot of people, i heard, self-taught themselves and came out with B/A's.

Get the textbooks, work through them and do all of the examples, make sure you're understanding everything and being proactive if you don't (i.e. asking for help, looking up worked examples on YouTube, etc.) and then do lots and lots and lots of past papers.

Yes, you can self teach Maths in AS Level. All you need to do is buy the text books, watch videos in exam solutions, practice the questions from the book and if possible, other resources relevant to your specification and then finally do the past papers. Do keep in mind that Maths is all about practice and good understanding. If you keep on practicing, it's easy to get a hang of it.

I self taught AS maths last year because I didn't find my teachers very good. I just worked through the questions in my textbook and then did exam papers. The questions that I got stuck on, go to examsolutions.com and it will teach you how to do it step by step! I got an A at the end of this as well
