General going out.

Right, basically I live in a remote village 2 miles uphill from the nearest source of public transport, and even getting there entails another 30 min journey to where most of my friends go out, without any services on sundays or late at night.

This has made me very passive about going out, I like to, but can't be arsed with the journey, rarely have enough money for taxis nd cant keep sleeping round various people's houses.

Anyway, a few old acquaintances have got in touch with me over summer and now wondering what the hell to do after i suggested meeting up. I'm sturggling for inspiration, could anyone help me?

I have a bad habit of dismissing most of my own suggestions as 'boring' so some input would be appreciated.
Do you not have a car? Could your parents drive you? Better yet, could their parents drive you/them somewhere? It really depends what there is to do - I see no reason why you can't go to their house one day and stay over the night, and really what you do is irrelevant. You could invite them to your house, but that depends whether you'd be comfortable with that. Alternatively, if there's a few of you, you could all get a taxi (starting at your house) and split the cost?

Dont have a car, my parents reufse to drive me anywhere. I have to travel 3+ hours in total just to get to my sports club and back for matches. Parents also don't like people staying round.

I live the otherside of the county to most people I know.

Why do they refuse?

Hmm, it's difficult. Is there any chance of you all going away somewhere for a few days together?

They have always been funny.. extremely passive parents. Only 6 weeks left..1 week left if you count the residential work im going to start close to where the bulk of my old friends live .. which should help things.

I was thinking a more 1on 1 basis meeting up..just my first instinct is to dismiss my own suggestions as ordinary and the fact i live quite far away means I hve to plan it far more than it's in my nature to. I just like popping out the door and doing somthing there and then.
Not much I can suggest then, really. :s-smilie: Maybe just sit this week out. Or get them to come to you. I can't think of any other solution.

Don't worry about your plans being boring. It's who you're with, not where you go or what you do that creates good times. Meet up in a park for the day or go out for a meal or anything.
I am basically in exactly the same position as you. I live in a Hamlet (doesn't even have a post office) which is a 45 minute walk from the main bus route. From there, I have to travel and hour into my local Hull. Other than that, there's a rather bad town about 8 miles away, but that's got virtually nothing in it anyway. My parents also refuse to drive me anywhere.

If I were you - and I understand you don't want to get a taxi? With enough people they can be pretty cheap - you could either a) all grab a tent and find somewhere to sleep in town (sounds kinda grotty but it could work for fun fun times and bonding session - or get a taxi. It'd probably work out as less than ten pounds each or something, and that'd be worth it if you spent the whole day in town - shopping, cinema, meal, club, bar... etc.

Anyway, good luck x
Ride a bicycle into town? Maybe even organise a bike ride with your friends?
