GEM applicant - previously left med school

Hi,

So I had to leave my GEM program due to health issues a few years ago and wondered what Graduate entry med schools people knew would consider applicants with this experience. I've noticed a lot of admissions websites state that they won't accept applications from people who have been previously enrolled on a medical degree - some state that if you've failed or been expelled they don't accept applicants, so presumably being ill is ok for these.

Just wondered if anyone had personal experience of this before I start filtering through them all and emailing specific admissions tutors.

Thanks ;-)

Can I ask why you didn't ask your med school for a leave of absence, becuase obviously you had a legitimate reason...

Good point: I had time off, but basically run out of time as there's a max of 6 years to complete the 4 year course - I'd had 2 years off, they asked me to withdraw. There's a lot more to it than that, but that's the basics and I don't want to go into the nitty-gritty here.
