This question is hopefully directed any anyone who has had jaw surgery under the NHS in the UK! I say that specifically because it pertains to how the surgery is done + different places will do the surgery differently.

This Tuesday I had double jaw surgery + two wisdom teeth removed, and I went home on the Wednesday... which may have been very quick but my surgeons told me the only reason I had to stay was for the diet (and I can handle that fine at home). However, I was never given any elastics or had my jaw wired shut? I'm worried why that hasn't happened yet... I thought that most people received elastics to help guide the teeth into the right place.

I have an appointment on Wednesday, and I'm going to ask them about it then, but can anybody who has had the surgery under the NHS confirm what the situation was like for them? Did you get the elastics a week after?

I would ring them but the ward isn't open on the weekends. I hope I'm posting this in the right place! I'm new to this site.

Sorry, I've only just seen this! It is the right place so you're okay there you'll have seen them by now but the surgeon will have done hundreds of these so I'd hope they know what you're doing, definitely right to check though. I've not had jaw surgery but there is a thread here with a lot of people in that have so that might be worth a look! Hope things work out well for you and you're pleased with the results
