So I want to go into theatre when I'm older but I'm better at academic subjects. I decided to take Maths, Dance and Theatre. But even though my dance teachers say I'll be good at dance I'm not convinced I will be. I didn't take it at GCSE and I essentially have no faith in my ability to pass and I keep thinking I should drop it and do History instead as everyone told me it was a 'safe' option. How do I get myself to believe I can do dance and theatre even though there are better options?

It's difficult to reassure you over the internet!

But I'd suggest giving it a go and see how you get on for the first year. It's very common for students to take A levels over 3 years if they swap subjects after year 12. If you're not doing as well as you'd like after a year then swapping to History after a year wouldn't be difficult usually.

Alternatively do your college offer the option to take a history AS alongside your 3 A levels? That would make it easier to swap after a year if things aren't working out with dance without taking an extra year to finish your A levels. It would mean a very intensive year 12 though so you might need to convince them you are willing to put in the extra work and time to do well at 4 subjects instead of 3.

They won't let us do four. They did that up until last year but decided we'd only do three this year. I might be able to change but I do sixth form so I hope it works out ok 😬
