Are the A level entry requirements at law firms typically set in stone? For example, if a student had a first class degree from a RG university, ABB at A level and applied for a training contract or vacation scheme at a firm where the entry requirements are usually AAB and a 2.1, would this candidate still be considered? Thanks in advance for any responses.

Will most certainly vary between firms. Telephone or e-mail and ask!
