Applying for Oxford Maths.. HELP!!

So basically.. I was planning on doing Medicine in year 12 but got no offers.. I intended to do a gap year to re apply for Medicine but I have changed my mind and decided to do a Maths degree..

My A level results are:

Maths A*, Chemistry A*, Biology A and A in AS Economics

I know I dont have Further Maths but i plan on studying it during my gap year as well as doing MATs and possibly STEP..

Anyway, long story short, i have 7 a's, 4 b's, 1 c and 1 d in gcses and no a*'s so will it still be worthwhile applying for Oxford?

Also, are there any advices or things I could do during my gap year which will increase my chances to get into Oxford? I do plan to go to Maths conferences and read Maths books..
Hey,
Just wanted to say thanks for joining The Student Room: welcome on board!

How's it going so far? Found what you need? Below I've listed a few things you might fancy trying on TSR. If you've got any questions, add them to the TSR news, help and feedback forum.

Put your work head on:
No matter what level or subject you're studying, you'll find someone on TSR who can help. Find your subject in the Study Help forum and ask a question or visit our brilliant revision section for help and advice. And if you're planning on going to university, you have to visit our uni applications forum. It's full of people who can help you through the whole process.

Take it easy:
You know there's more to TSR than studying, right? In Hobbies and Interests you'll find people talking about everything from the latest football scores through to what mobile phone to buy next. Or how about the Debate and Current Affairs forum? Latest news, politics, education...it's all fair game in here.

That's just a taster, of course. To find even more conversation, head to the Forums page and find a place to start up your own discussion.

Enjoy the site!

Cheers,
Ollie, from the TSR community team

Hey friend I'm pretty much in the same boat as you in terms of the year out! I'm seeking a lot of mathsy work experiences and tutoring a few people in the year below me, I think the most important thing is to do well on the MAT and apply for STEP if possible. Try to show that you're keeping your maths up throughout the year.
