I am starting my GCSE courses. For my Expressive Arts I have chosen Music. I play guitar and right now I am going grade 5 . However, I don't read music... I read tablature. Music interests me but the most important thing for me is that A*. In music lessons, sometimes I don't follow with the theory. I am capable of working hard on music but I'm just worried if that would be enough to get me that A*.

When I did music GCSE, I could read music and everything but the only theory I knew was from dance lessons years ago so I was pretty rusty. We had to write music for controlled assessments over the year so you do need to learn how to read music, and the exam does require a decent amount of theory knowledge however you will learn this throughout the two years. You definitely need to try and catch up, but most of my class went in knowing very little and still managed to pull it off.
