Chances are the uni/school will not be okay with this - you knew for a year before you applied for this year yet still went ahead and applied for it despite knowing your holiday was during term time?

I'm sorry to sound harsh but it's your problem, not the school/uni's problem. Just speak to them and hope for the best. Otherwise you'll need to choose between them.

I was not planning on starting until next year, hence the reason the holiday was booked. It was all paid for and to lose thousands of pounds would be a big blow. I am just hoping they may be okay, I want to be honest and if it comes to that then I will just need to lose the money. thanks

But that's still my point - you took a place despite knowing you had a holiday booked in term time, which most likely won't go down well with the training provider.

Cancel the holiday. You risk losing your place for this year if you do not, as the provider will require you to be in from day one

What happens to people who are sick, do they lose their place too? Seems harsh!

Being sick isn't a choice - going on holiday is. What do you value more? A career or a holiday?

Two completely different scenarios. Cannot compare them both. And no, it's not harsh - you chose the commitment, you either honour those term time commitments and cancel the holiday, or pull out of the course and reapply next year.

Irrelevant. You chose to go on holiday at the start of term-either cancel it or take a year out
