Basically, I have no money, and I don't get my student loan until after moving in day, but I have to pay my deposit and pre-rent before then. What do I do?

    Hello

Usually, people have a job and have saved up money to help them pay their deposit/pre-rent but not everyone. The majority of people borrow the money of their parents or guardians and then pay them back when their student finance comes in.

However, if neither of those options are good for you then I'd contact whoever deals with your accommodation and explain the situation and see if they can allow you to pay it when your SF comes in.

    Good luck

Student bank accounts have an overdraft for this sort of situation. Otherwise it's your own savings or money from your parents.

If you're in uni accommodation, they will realise that some can't pay until their SF arrives. Contact them to check whether their payment date is flexible if you can prove that your SF has been approved and scheduled.*

Do you know if I'll have to have paid any money into my account for the overdraft to work?

Depends on the bank. All will have their terms & conditions online so you can check them out to find one which fits.
