When I originally applied for student finance a few months ago, I was applying for a degree course with a foundation year. Thanks to better than expected results, I was able to secure a place on the first year of a normal degree course at the same university.

A few days ago, I updated my student finance application to reflect the change in course choice. The new application was quickly accepted, and I can see payments scheduled to go straight to the university to cover tuition fees. Looking at the payment schedule on the SFE website, I noticed that there were other payments for tuition fee loans scheduled, but with me as the payee instead of the university. These payments are marked as "Progressing" in terms of payment status. Is that normal for student finance, or is it something I need to contact them about to sort out?

That's normal with a change to details which is in the process of being confirmed with the uni. There are no circumstances under which you'll get the Tuition Fee Loan instead of the uni.
