    Hi GEM candidates.

I was thinking there's a few of us out there who are feeling low due to bad UKCAT scores in mocks, or on the actual test. So a poll could help us feel that it is possible and that we are not alone. Others have taken many cycles and are now successful or still trying.

The reason I have put GEM, is because the entry requirement is higher which is why I think it's difficult to get and makes one feel there aren't able enough to get the score.

    Thanks*

Hello, I'm a third time lucky GEM.

2013- 7th decile (687.5 average in a freak year) 4 pre interview rejections

    2014- 8th decile (665 average) 4 pre interview rejections

2015- 9th decile (705 average and finally got some interviews) 2 interviews, 1 pre interview rejection and one rejection based on the unsuitability of my undergrad.

    SJT band 1 every time.

Thanks, GEM is soooooo competitive and the UKCAT score required is soo high!
It helps keep us motivated when we can see others who had their struggle and finally MADE it. :-)

Your scores were really good. Why did you not apply for 5yr? Funding?*

Hahaaa yeah I have struggled to scrape together the unfunded portion of first year fees, I didn't have a hope in hell of raising £36000. I know a few people are going to work every spare hour to fund a 5 year but 1. I have a child to care for, 2. I'm not bright enough to lose study hours to money making, and 3. I wanted to be in a grad only cohort. Totally worth taking the test a few times to get into the programme I most wanted to join.

Thanks, you make some very valid points. Especially the GRAD only cohort. Hopefully I'll get better each cycle!

    2 cycles for me:

2014 - 685 UKCAT (Band 1) This year was full of really high scores, so 4 pre-interview rejections
    2015 - 778 UKCAT (Band 1) - 4 interviews and 2 offers and a waiting list place. *

The UKCAT is such an annoying test, especially getting 4 rejections because of it. I was essentially the same candidate for both years, all that changed was my score. If the score doesn't go your way this year, don't be too disheartened, it doesn't mean you're not a good candidate. Good luck to all applying for GEM.
