5 - Why did you choose Durham and/or your college?

This time round, for continuity. Last time around I picked Durham as I was taken in by how beautiful the city itself was. I think the view from Prebends bridge up to the cathedral says it all

1 - Do you like ducks?
I do indeed . Especially tiny baby ducks - they're sooo cute. When I visited York, three came right up to me, and pecked at my shoes. I still chose Durham in the end, but those baby ducks made it a toughy. (Nah, not really...*grin*)

2 - What animal, fruit/plant or household object are you most like, and why?
My favourite teacher once said that "Sarah's mind is like an engine with eight cylinders, seven of which work perfectly, and one is slightly off" ....I know an engine isn't strictly speaking a "household object", but it's all I can think of just now.

    3 - What’s your earliest memory?
I don't know if this is my earliest memory, but the first thing which sprang to mind, was this image of me and my friend Alicia lying on our backs in a tent in her room, drinking apple juice from our bottles (*yum yum*)

4 - Which superpower would you most like to have?
That's a hard one. I can't choose between flying and stopping time. Flying is so much fun, in flying dreams (you've all had those, right?), but stopping time, would come in very handy during exams . Oooh...and what about time travel?

5 - Why did you choose Durham and/or your college?
One of my best friends came back from having visited Durham, and she told me "it's so you". And she was right . It's pretty, and small enough that even I might be able to find my way around given a few weeks time....or months. (Shilling<----orientationally challenged). I suspect I chose St. Mary's, because, subconsciously, I wanted to go to some Enid Blyton style Mallory Towers type place ....*hehe*. I think living in an all girls college should be good fun.

6 - What’ll you miss most, when you leave home?
The ice cold coconut milk I have every morning from "The Coffee Box".

7 - Who’re you most upset about leaving behind?
At the risk of sounding childish...my mum and dad ...(as most of my friends will be studying in England like me anyway.)

    8 - Do you have a gf/bf?
    Nope

    9 - Career aspirations?
Absolutely no idea  ....I'm thinking teacher, maybe?

    10 - Favourite: book / film / food / drink / colour / sport / ice-cream flavour / crisp flavour/ TV show / school subject / quote ?
Book: it's a tie between "Pride and Prejudice" and "Emma"; Film: BBC version of Pride and Pred, Gosford Park and The Full Monty; Food: tomato soup; Drink: lemon tea; Colour: it varies, but at the moment purple, and deep red; Sport: don't like sport; Ice-cream flavour: Häagen-Dazs' Macadamia Brittle and Cookies & Cream; Crisp flavour: Salt and Vinegar; TV show: Jonathan Creek; School Subject: philosophy and English; Quote: "She was not a woman of many words, for unlike people in general, she proportioned them to the number of her ideas"

11 - Reasons why you chose your course?
Because I think English lit. combines (to a certain extent) everything I'm most interested in: philosophy, psychology, linguistics and history (though not in a dates and battles sort of way - more like seeing how people lived and thought)....+ you get to spend your time reading lots of books .

12 - Anything you’re scared of? (Both in relation to uni, or just fears in general)
That I might not fit in, I suppose....though I'm not really that worried. Anyway, that and pidgeons...*shudder*

13 - What’re you most looking forward to?
Meeting lots of new people, sharing a room (no really), my course...everything - *gets very excited*

14 - Which subjects did you take at A-level?
Well, I did the EB. My subjects: English, Advanced English, German, Maths, Biology, Chemistry, Philosophy, Drama, Sport, History (taught in German) and Geography (also taught in German).

    15 - What’s your insurance offer?
It was Edinburgh, but I've already made my offer anyway....yay!

    16 - Where’re you from?
I'm half German, half Irish, and get to have both passports too. I was born and have grown up in Germany (but have spent 16 of 18 Christmases in Ireland.)

17 - Which single word best describes you?
    "quaint"

18 - Anything special you’re bringing with you?
A teddy bear and a blanket made for me by two friends of mine.

    19 - Hobbies?
    Drawing and reading mostly.

20 - Do you play an instrument?
I played the violin for ten years, but don't really play it anymore now, and thenI took piano lessons for a year, which I loved, but had to give that up too, because of exams and stuff, but I might take it up again some time in the future.

21 - Are there any societies you’ll definitely be joining?
Yoga deffo...and I'd also quite like to join a drama group and a choir.

    22 - What’s your middle name?
    Joanne

Green (but I don't really like apples)...love apple pie though!

    21 August '85....(I'll be 19 soon  ) (Edit: in fact, now I am 19, hehe )

    25. What zodiac sign are you?
    Leo ...grrrrrr!

    26. Do you have any siblings?
    Nope....only child.

27 - Favourite place on Earth apart from Durham?
Well, at the moment it's Karlsruhe, because I'm beginning to feel homesick, without even having left yet.

28 - Estimated hangovers in the first two weeks of term?
I don't really drink, so probably none.
