Wasn't Collingwood the first mixed college? "The whore-house on the hill" or something, it got called.

I went to an all-boys school and think it was awful. There could not be a more stupid idea.

Might have been. I thought collingwood was built later though. It certainly looks smarter than Trevs, Marys or Aidans. It might have been the first one to be built mixed, which may have earnt it a reputation.

I went to Tiffins from yr 7 onwards (as did gzftan if he is still around) until this year and its an all boys school/6th form. Great fun especially as many of my mates are girls.

Still around??? When did i ever leave

Ah..tiffin wasn't that bad James....twas actually quite fun! Agreed, there was an absence of girls (hence the whole..all boys thing)...but most people know girls outside of school so it doesn't really matter so much

I went to an all girls' secondary school and I think it messed me up a bit. Many of them had never had boyfriends, and they'd love to ask me questions or 'catch' me in town with mine.

Furthermore, it got weird when girls started acting macho to replace the absence of males in the school. They weren't lesbian or anything, but it was nearly like being in a co-ed school, where some girls were obviously more 'male' than others.. with very cropped hair, baggy uniforms, basketball shoes, baggy jackets, speaking in gruff voices. It was just weird!

Inevitably, these masculine girls moved on to co-ed colleges and there was an immediate transformation. THey started wearing tighter clothes, grew their hair and even went as far as to buying little tiny school bags and wearing all sorts of cute hair clips.

I'm glad that my school in Brunei was very liberal.. and it's definitely given me a more accepting and balanced outlook in life. Uni will be another learning zone for me

Some of the greatest laughs at my school have been from my male mates, especially in my physics lessons (although I had sum classic moments with screaming matches with my teacher). It seems to be they are more mischevious!

Didnt u find *****ing a problem at an all girls school? and what about the boys school? Did u bring in porn mags and go 'oooh..girl!GIRL!Not a man!Mammorries!'

I actually thought there was less *****ing in my girls' school than in my co-ed college. The girls felt more relaxed and less out to impress.

u must have been lucky coz i know other girls who have said thats a real problem. And a boy i knew tried to hang himself from a tree due to the bullying from a single-sex(the branch broke however) and he moved to our school and made a complete transformation...

OH gosh.. that must have been terrible! Nah, the girls in my school were okay. I didn't really hear anything to gossip about.. most of them were just too engrossed in their studies and competing to be the best.

Lol.....ok..i'll admit...there was a phase in year 8 or 9 when people used to bring in copies of the daily sport..and the majority of the class would crowd round it at the back of the room to try and get a glance of boobies *sniggers*

But for the most part, it's nothing like the female deprived society that many people view it to be. Although.....there were some interesting crushes some people had on the female members of staff...*shudders*....i had no such crushes thank god

The atmosphere is certainly more 'laddish'...but it'd be the same kind of atmosphere if you put a bunch of blokes from your school into a room by themselves. It's just we had that atmosphere throughout the whole school

That's the difference between all boys and all girls schools. All boys schools....the teasing is done in the open....if someone doesn't like you....they'll let you know about it. In my school, there wasn't any bullying as such...just a lot of teasing and pissing about. It was never anything to make someone feel like killing themselves, i don't think so anyway.

In a girls skl, i've heard they ***** about you behind your back and gossip, and imo, that's a lot more hurtful, cos you don't know if your friends are really your friends.

I agree with most of what you say G but i was used to always being around girls (yeah I started early) and it was a bit of a shock! Sometimes i did find it a little stifling being exposed to that much testosterone (admittedly much of it my own) all the time and I find it refreshing to talk to girls!

And then there was the fact that i always did my own thing, which didnt go down too well with the establishment!

Well damion did try a couple of times... he threw himself down a set of stairs, and tried to drown himself in the south building toilets as well (saw that happening)... that boy was just messed up!

I dont entirely agree with you on the openness of teasing, in my experience boys can be just as underhand and *****y. I know of several people who had stuff said behind their backs, and it happened to me too. I much prefer it if someone has something to say, then they say it to your face!

Erm James..think about it...4 rugby practices a week....changing rooms....about 40 rugby players all in the changing rooms after doing 10 sprints in quick succession at the end of a rucking and mauling practice...i think you'll find there was more than enough testosterone......to be honest..i don't think the deodorant had any effect

Was great fun playing in matches though
