D in AS maths.. hoping to study economics.. should i keep it?

I have a love/hate relationship with maths. It's great when I understand, its horrendous when I don't. Following my AS, i got a D. I feel like I can greatly improve, but my teachers don't think so. I didn't revise as much as I could have (e.g. doing every single past paper and every question from the text book). I feel like I lack in some knowledge from C2 and C1, only because my teacher at AS was new at teaching A level and didn't quite know how to approach it.

is C3 and C4 crazily hard? is it worth continuing with a D at AS?
