Independent = Worst News Source?

Before you say the Sun, the mirror or the star. Lets be honest they are expected to be gutter news and they are exactly that. They live up to it.

What really annoys me is that they just post depressing liberal pessimistic crap all the day and half the time its all wrong. Why can't they just be optimistic sometimes?

This is a prime example from a while back.
http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/politics/could-rio-be-team-gb-s-last-great-olympics-after-brexit-a7199916.html

'Could Rio be TeamGBs last great Olympics after Brexit' - Really? Instead of celebrating the medals these retards try to claim how reduced income due to brexit will lead to less lottery tickets being sold leading to less funding. hahaha.

No newspaper posts as much liberal utopian crap as the independent. No wonder they stopped printing their newspapers.

You are probably going to ask 'Why do you read it then?' - I don't. But unfortunately all this liberal crap gives politics students boners and they start sharing it all over my facebook timeline and I cant avoid it :/.

Rant over.

Ah yes, true. The readers comments though bring it up for me... Make me laugh
The Guardian is awful politically, which is sad really because overall its a very informative newspaper

Nah, the Independent was a pro free-market newspaper (dunno its current editorial stance tbh). The point is that FT is the superior substitute. No reason to read the I.
The guardian has in my opinion become even worse in recent years (constantly moaning about "white males" ), not all their writers are bad but 90% are god awful. They also fail to report on a wide range of issues that go against their narrative like the anti-Semitic MP's rejected from the labour party (god forbid the left can be racist too!).

There was also a story a year back in the press about a young teenage boy that killed himself after being falsely accused of rape, the mail/express/metro all covered it but the Guardian strangely ignored it, presumably because it goes against their feminist agenda.

I think some of their journalism is still very good but they're not what they were.

This lost them a lot of credibility IMO.

I don't think the Independent is so bad, progressive politically without being ridiculous like the Guardian most of the time.

Nope - any Rupert-Murdoch-owned tabloid (daily mail, express etc) is 100x worse and his papers have significantly damaged society (things like claiming autism was caused by vaccinations, presumably because they value sales over honest reporting or the wellbeing of their readers' children), and then Queen of them all - fox news (which actually had a 'black room' who's purpose was to smear the characters of anyone who threatened them (including those within Fox News who didn't want to be sexually abused by Murdoch's buddy Roger Ailes (a man who is for some reason is allowed to be part of the Donald Trump campaign??!))).
Also, aside from the long history of his papers' lies Rupert Murdoch is the head of a media empire, has been in bed with ridiculous numbers of politicians and is very much involved in the US lobbying process. If that doesn't scream red flags I don't know what does.

If you look at where the vast majority of the guardian staff background is from you will see a reoccurring pattern, they are all Oxbridge grads

Spoiler

No wonder why their (mainly working class) readership are disillusioned, Guardian staff are champagne socialists in the very meaning of the term.
