So I need to talk about work experience I've had in the past for a job app. I spent about 3 months in a lab as part of my dissertation and I was wondering if that could count as work experience.

BTW not sure what forum this should go in so everyday issues it is..

If it's all you've got, then use it. Just view it from the perspective of a job, rather than a dissertation ie say you drafted a report on your work, not a dissertation!

I would say yes, that counts. You were in a working environment, working alongside employers, doing working hours (9-5) etc. These are all aspects of work experience you can talk about: how you were prompt on your arrival, happy to work over time, worked well as a team with you lab-partners/co-workers and so on. You can also go into some details about what you did in the lab, such as what responsibilities fell under your role.
