Can anyone explain to me, in detail, the pathway to becoming a nurse practitioner in general practice?

I'm about to embark on my adult nursing degree, but am considering my wider career options for my future in nursing. I am already aware that I would require a masters degree (MSc in advanced nursing practice and management OR similar) as well as a independent prescribing qualification, however I am unable to find much information about how people progress from being say a practice nurse or nurse working in A and E to being a nurse practitioner in said specialist primary or secondary care fields.

Any resources people could point me to or advice you could give me would be appreciated.
Do you agree with the PM's proposal to cut tuition fees for some courses?
