    Hi,
I want to apply for the silver DofE award, last year (Year 11) I had applied to do the bronze award but I was turned down I believe this was because of my application in why I want to complete the award.
I was wondering if anyone had any tips on what to write as I really need this on my CV.
    Any help is valued, thanks

What do you mean "applied" and "turned down". You just do the DofE? No need to apply anywhere or anything, you could even do it independently if you want to.

In my school we have to apply writing a statement of why we should be picked, as there are limited spaces only some people are chosen so the rest are turned down.
Where could I do it independently?

The skill, physical and volunteering, (and residential for Gold) can all be done independently. It's just the expedition, if you look online there are many companies that offer the expedition which bring together people doing it independently and help them through it.

The DofE website should be able to inform you on doing it in all ways, even all the online eDofE account stuff.

When I did Gold at my school, there was one guy who was on holiday when we were doing the expedition so he had to use an indepentent company/group. He had a whale of a time and found it a very pleasant experience. Needless to say, we got the award pretty simply.
