I'm a vegan, and I'm not sure whether i should choose catered or self-catered halls for my accommodation next year. I've heard that catered halls are a lot more sociable and easier to make friends in, but I'm unsure whether it would offer too many limited food options if I go for catered halls! :s any thoughts??

I wasn't in catered halls but you should check they actually offer vegan food, I think some places it's only vegetarian? Either way food in catered halls isn't meant to be great, I think vegetarians often just got plain salad/pasta all the time. Personally I'd go for self catered so you can have a more varied diet. Just as a side note if you do go self catered keep your pans and stuff in your room as people sometimes just use whatever and I assume you don't want meat cooked on your stuff.
