    Hi

I am currently predicted A* (Maths) A* (Physics) and B in Economics. My issue is that I really want to do economics at a top uni (Warwick/LSE) and I know that Maths is the subject that unis look at for economics. Will I be able to apply for these courses which ask for A*AA with my grades, and will it matter that my bad grade is in Econ?

    Thanks

They'll probably give you an offer for A*AA or AAA, so if you do achieve A*A*B then there is a good chance you'll be let in, though technically they could reject you, or reject you if they specifically say they want an A in Econ (Not as likely, as Maths is what they really want)

Obviously I'm going to try and get an A prediction, but this is encouraging. Is it common that the grades for an A*AA course would be dropped to an AAA offer?
From what I can see the only uni that I have looked at that asks for an A in econ is UCL.

It depends on what they say on UCAS. If they give the typical offer as a range (A*AA - AAB) then they can offer anywhere in that range. If they say just one grade (A*AA) then usually they are quite firm on that.

Some may tailor the offer more to your predicted grades if they like your application. So if they usually offer AAA but you apply with A*A*B, your offer may be something like "Candidate needs to achieve AAA or A*AB"
