I'm interested in completing a maths degree at uni although, I'm not sure what exact course I want to pursue.

Despite my determination to study the subject, I'm worried that I will be a weaker candidate for a placement on a mathematics course due to the fact that I haven't taken Further Maths at A-Level.

Do you think this will massively impact my probability of receiveing a placement?
Also, do you think that as I haven't got this extra experience I will struggle studying maths at uni?

Further Maths is essential and the good uni's ask for Further Maths. If you go on some undergrad courses(related to maths) on several university sites, they all state that further maths is required.

It's definitely still possible for you to get offers - even the best universities accept people without Further Maths - but yes, it definitely isn't going to do your application any favours. Is it possible for you to take the AS in Year 13? That's what a lot of universities recommend for people in your situation.

Very few universities have Further Maths as a strict entry requirement, although of course all say it's highly desirable.

I kind of faced this issue and decided to take up Further Maths in Year 13(FP1-2, S2-4 and M1 were the units I chose) and self studied it in a year. It definitely helped with my application and knowledge. It's worth noting that A-level maths in itself doesn't give you much of a taste of uni-level maths, and Further Maths kind of scratches the surface. So do the AS at least, maybe A2 if you feel up for it.
