Well, I got a B in English language (CIE IGCSE 0522) this year, my only B (grr :unimpressed:) and was told today that I was 2 marks off an A (unsure if my teacher meant raw or UMS). He did mention that CIE aren't amazing with remarks and it could go up to an A but he doesn't think there's a high chance of it going up. I got an A for the speaking and an A for the coursework (down from an A* 48/50 I think most people's went down) and a C for the exam which I really didn't expect since i always got As or high Bs (and one A* in the mock which i think was the Jan 2016 paper (at least that's what i remember). I know quite a few people in my year whose grade was lower than expected so i don't know if a remark is a good option.

So my question to you guys is, is it worth getting a remark and how many of you who did CIE IGCSE English language have had remarks and have had your grade go up?

I would say yes, it's worth a go. Over the last few years I have seen quite a few grades change after a CIE re-mark. This year? I'm not sure. I think CIE have always been quite tough for re-marks so it's possible this year won't be any tougher than any other. If you think you did better than the marks you received it's always worth a shot.

Possibly. Cambridge are very harsh with the marking however and do double mark all of their papers. If you got your paper remarked it has to go up by a considerable amount before the mark is implemented. If a new examiner gave your paper say 29 instead of 27, your mark would remain at 27. If a new examiner gave your paper 33, then it would go up. What I'm saying is that it will be very difficult to chase single marks. What I will say is that your coursework might not have been marked down as Cambridge do not give grade A* for individual components, but the qualification as a whole. So the maximum you could get for speaking, coursework and exam is an A. Hope this helps!
