Well, i'll soon have a driving licence (car), and i'm thinking I might like to get a HGV licence. I'm wondering if anyone can tell me what I need to do to get one, and what's involved?

Thanks.

How much does it cost per lesson and overall?

Overall? The average person spends £700 to learn to drive a car, if they have about 35 lessons at £20 each (I think 35 lessons is the average?).

total rubbish 40 grand!! although i cant give you an actual figure i can garantee you its not the price of a crap flat. my unle is a hgv driver and got his liscence while in the army, if you want to do it on the cheap you could join the ta for a few months. however i think it is common for some companies to sponsor you through your training given that you actually ganntee to work for them for a minumup period.

I'll try to find out. There are two categories of LGV (a.k.a HGV) licence aren't there? The rigid vehicle (which is easier to learn) and non-rigid one, I'd be happy just learning the first category for now.

No thanks - the prospect of going to Afghanistan or Iraq isn't that appealing to me (there's big troop shortage).
