Is my dad racist?

We get on average 6 annoying advertisements every evening and everytime its an asian person speaking and mithering about some sort of advertisement. Anyway my friend was round and my dad was watching TV and the phone rang and he got up saying 'oh them b****** asians again blah blah blah im sick to death' and he told me to answer the phone, I didn't want to as its hard to get away from advertisement people so we all ignored it. Anyway I was walking my friend back to her house and she asked if my dad had anything against asians, I said no its just the advertisements annoying him and she said he used horrible language. Im annoyed at him myself as hes probably cost me a girl now but is she right? How are people supposed to cope with mithering phone calls?

i dont like asian people ringing me either.

we can't understand each other.

my employer, BT, are masters at pissing people off for this. someone selling you something will nearly ALWAYS be a local person with a local accent. as soon as you need help it's time to crack out the colonials.

i would'nt worry about that.
but by theway that has got to the best thread headline ever.

in this day and age where people take offence at anything they can , i think the fact of the matter was if they're asian the people at keep ringing you than its a fair enough thing to say in the context. they jus happen to be the main source of these calls. if most the international call centre's and cold salers were in liverpool then he would be complaining about the "bastard scousers".
i jus tell them too "**** off" otherwise it takes about five "i'm busy's" in a stern voice.

That's not racism, I don't like Asian people ringing me either because I generally can't understand them when they are in a call centre. For that matter I don't like anyone from call centres ringing me, it's rather annoying.

Thinking about it its like disturbing your privacy, people hate halloween night for this but we get several phone calls every night.

i dont think its racism, its just (horrible generalisation) most of them tend to be asian who ring up from call centres. it's annoying whether they happen to be asian, australian, european, american, whatever though really! just set up a private number if its a lot of hassle

no, she's just overly sensitive. I hate people like that, it makes it harder to tell who the real racists are when people like her decide everyone's a racist. and besides, it was your dad that said it, not you. She's the one making this about race, your dad was just pissed off like everyone else is because they're so difficult to understand, it would have been the same reaction if they'd have been Swedish.

She didn't know that we had these annoying calls so to her it was just like the phone went and he started swearing and going on about asians lol, she said he might be a racist anyway.

Not racist at all, it's fact. The majority of the call centers we get are in india, with strong indian accents...and they are annoying cos it's so hard to udnerstnad them!
