bladder problems!

i have a problem in that over the last couple of days i have needed the toilet really frequently (even if i've barely drunk anything) and when i do go it never feels like i've entirely emptied my bladder, feels really uncomfortable. some people have said this is a sign of a urinary infection whereas others have said it's a symptom of diabetes - does anyone have any experience/ideas? many thanks.
I would visit your GP

not entirely possible as am off on holiday in 2 days and my doctor is at uni - not quite sure how it works when your doctor is elsewhere?!
You not got a doctor back at home?

I really do doubt you've got Diabetes, and it is highly likely you have a UTI. Start drinking lots of water, lots of cranberry juice (not other fruit juices though). Don't drink soft drinks, alcohol etc.

See your GP next time you get a chance. It is uncomfortable, but hardly life threatening.

yeh but when i went to uni i filled in all the stuff which means you transfer to a new doctor, and obviously didn't transfer back for the holidays, so not sure how it works if you then want to see a dr back home.. whether you can see your old gp or not? not sure!
you go and see your gp at home and register as a temporary resident i think
- thats what my uni doctor said to me anyway
Yep. When I need to see my GP back home, after regestering with the uni, they just accepted me as a tempory GP. I ended up seeing some GP I had never met before, who did practically nothing to help me... but thats another story.

i had this exact thing, and i drunk alot of cranberry juice to flush out my system. i was at work when i had it really badly and kept on having to pop to the toilet, yet everytime i went i barely had a drop of pee. its really annoying, and uncomfortable, but dont worry, just drink alot of cranberry juice (not too much though,as it made me have a dodgy stomach due to drinking alot of it, and by alot, i mean a very unhealthy amount of like 2 and a bit litres) i was really desperate to get rid of it. i didnt go to my gp though, im sure you should be able to get rid of it before they come back yourself, good luck x

Buy some 'cystitis relief' sachets from the chemist (ask at the counter if you are not sure what to look for), drink cranberry and lots of water (my doc said try for a pint an hour!)

The sachets won't do you any harm if you don't have a UTI but if your symptoms persist after taking the 48hr course you should see your GP. You should be able to see your GP back at home as a temporary/visiting patient. I just had to fill out a small form when I went to my home GP this summer
I had this problem a few years back as well. I wouldn't worry about it being anything like diabetes as I really doubt it is that, go see your GP, and until then just drink a lot! I know that seems like the opposite of what you might expect to stop you going to the toilet, but hey, thats what worked for me!

Sounds to me like Cystitis - I have had it on two occasions and on those occasions I had this desperate and STRONG urge to pee even when my bladder was empty. My urine (When I did go) was often cloudy and quite strong smelling and I felt vey uncomfortable downstairs!

I would recommend visiting either you local Gp or Pharmacist.
If it is Cystitis then they will advise you to drink plenty of water and also cranberry juice to flush out your system. Avoid sex and drinking alcohol as this can inflame urinary tract infections further.
Also you can take sodium citrate which will be available from your GP or you local pharmacist.

Check out this web page I think you will find it very helpful and you will be able to see whether cyctisitis sounds like what you have:
