I have to do a speech for my speaking and listening controlled assessment in front of my whole class and I really do not feel comfortable about it. I suffer from really bad anxiety so it's not that I'm just a wee bit shy, I'm far too shy. I asked my teacher can I just come and do it when she has a free period or something, just me and her and no audience as I feel so insecure with everybody watching me and I hate it, but she said no I can't. The school know I suffer from anxiety so it's not like they don't even know. Surely due to my condition they have to compromise?

this probably won't help but your speaking and listening is 0% of your grade (at least on aqa anyway) so it doesn't matter how you do. try speaking to someone who has a more senior role in the school or support staff to see if they can sort something out for you. maybe another teacher will be willing to help you out.

for the speaking and listening grade, our teacher just gave everyone top mark (and some people in my class didn't even do it )

    Well when is it?
Go to the head of English and head of year and tell them both. If nothing happens then tell your parents and if they still dont want to do anything then take day off so they'll have to let you do it on another day. I was in you're situation aswell but dont worry because normally you'd have one in Year 10 and retake in Year 11. If you have any other questions please ask

Our teacher had to film our speeches and send them off to the exam board to be moderated (I do AQA and am doing the new GCSEs). If you tell both the head of English and your teacher they may be able to sort something out. For example when my class did our speeches some did it in a group of 5 (so presented in front of 4 people + the teacher in order to answer questions) and some did it in front of the class depending on what suited them best. As well as this we were able to change the format of the talk to suit us, e.g some just did speeches/rants and others did question and answer sessions with the teacher.

If it is with Aqa then it doesn't matter if you get a top score or bottom score - it counts as 0% in your overall grade. I think you have to still do it though, as your unit grade goes on your results paper.
It may be different next year, with the exam changes, but for this year it definitely didn't matter how well you did in that unit.
