At AS I got the following grades in the following subjects - Business Studies(B), Chemistry (D - linear), Geography (D) and Maths (E).

Now the issue is that I really want to do Chemical Engineering or something to do with chemistry. The problem is that all the courses that I'd like to do require maths. My college have refused letting me do A2 maths which is understandable. However the issue is that I got a U in C1 and in S1. Both subjects which I was consistently getting As and Bs in when I did my mocks.

My college gave me a choice of whether to pick my other subject (Geography) or I can do AS maths. I found geography incredibly boring and had decided I wanted to drop it halfway through the course after I had finished my AS levels.

I am confident if I work harder than last year (Not very hard) that I can achieve a good grade in Chemistry such as an A or B since it is a reformed A level as well as a good grade in Business Studies.

Now since there's a bit of background information above, would I be able to get into a university which asks for 3 A levels or will I have to apply to a university which asks for tariff points? (I have noticed that the tariff point universities are not ranked very highly on the university league table). The reason I am asking is because I feel that I could do well this year but will an AS in maths restrict me? Has anyone every gotten into a uni on a foundation year course or otherwise normal course with 2 A levels and 2 AS levels?

Just from research, some universities will accept 2 AS levels in the place of 1 but many do not. If I were you, I'd either do the 2 A2 and 1As this year, and do another year to focus on that AS to turn it into an A2, OR resit year 12. If you feel you could do well definitely redo the maths and also finish A2 maths if you can in the additional year. I'm sure a lot of universities require math when it comes to Chem engineering and I think also for Chemistry, not too sure, so doing the extra year would be beneficial

I have already resat previously; This is now my 3rd year hence the reason I am particularly worried about resitting another year. I was looking at foundation years at universities in particular and was wondering whether they'd accept an A in AS maths alongside the D in AS Geography. For example, Manchester University ask for BBC so say if I was to achieve Chemistry (A), Business Studies (A) and an A in AS maths is there a possibility of me getting accepted? Like has anyone ever been accepted this way?
